Having learned tailoring at the feet of European master tailors, one of whom worked for Armani and Loro Piana, we have invested the last three decades to becoming the highest quality alterations tailors, and the highest quality dry cleaners in South Carolina and beyond. We have visited, and learned from, some of the top dry cleaners in the USA.

We started our dry cleaning jouney by buying our plant in North Charleston, and a few years latter as we{Robert and Marti) were driving home from church on a Sunday afternoon, about sixteen years ago, we noticed the sign anouncing the new Harris Teeter coming to Hwy 41 next to Rivertowne and Dunes West. We immediately dialed the number on the sign and left a message saying that we want to be the tailors and cleaners to this community. They contacted us on Monday, and after a few minutes we agreed that our business would be a great fit for the neighborhood. The rest as they say, is history.

Julius Alterations and Cleaners is a family owned business, we have been serving the Charleston area since January of 2008 from our North Charleston location, that location has been operated at the same location by the previous owner since 1999. Many of our customers travel a long distance from all over the Lowcountry to have their clothes altered or cleaned with us. Friendly service, professional quality alterations, and eco-friendly, fresh odor, clothes are just some of the reasons people like us.

Robert has learned the trade from his father, Julius(Gyula) of Julius Alterations on Hilton Head Island. Julius started as a tailors apprentice at the age of 16 in Romania, worked for a fine clothing manufacturer for over fifteen years, than operated his own factory for  ten years. Julius has been serving alterations customers on Hilton Head Island since 1993, his business has grown exponentially year after year through word of mouth. 

Robert and Marti started Julius Alterations and Cleaners in 2010, named Julius after Roberts dad who shared all of his tailoring knowledge with Robert, helping him become an Alterations Master Tailor(an alterations tailor who can alter all men and ladies garments, including bridal). Marti's focus has been and remained understanding body types, and styles, bringing out the best of each unique garment for its wearer, from tailoring the perfect pants, to suits, casual and formal dresses, and wedding gowns.

Robert and Marti head our crew of dedicated alterations tailoring and garment care employees, together we provide the best quality cleaning and pressing you will find in the Charleston area. Our expertise in wet cleaning processes sets us apart as the leader in environmentally friendly garment care in South Carolina, our focus has been offering exceptional quality cleaning and pressing of the garments.

Marti has a passion for providing the ultimate customer service for brides from A to P.... Alterations to Preservation. It is a privilege to be part these special occasions from the first fitting all the way to cleaning and preserving of wedding gowns.

We chose to use the name Julius Alterations and Cleaners because we learned everything about alterations and a passion for quality and style from Julius,...thanks Dad :). Julius Alterations and Cleaners uses 100% "wet cleaning", the most people, and environment, friendly cleaning process. We have even provided training for new cleaners with a desire to learn about cleaning clothes without the use of hazardous chemicals.
